Northern Arizona Nature Photography Tour
Nature Photo Tour – Northern AZ and the Navajo Nation including Slot Canyons
Northern AZ is one of the Scenic mecca’s of the West. On this Nature Photography tour we will visit The Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River, Antelope Canyon (slot canyon) and Monument Valley both on the Navajo Nation. The tour starts on Monday morning April 26th in Flagstaff, AZ and ends in Flagstaff on the evening of April 29th, 2010.
Antelope Canyon
Day 1 we leave Flagstaff heading north to Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River. From the parking lot there is a 1/2 mile hike to the edge of the 1,000 ft cliffs that form Horseshoe Bend. Mid-day will find us in Upper Antelope Canyon a magnificent slot canyon. Time permitting we will the head for Lower Antelope Canyon. We will spend the night in Page.
Day 2 we will head for Monument Valley, a Navajo Nation Park where we will spend the rest of the day shooting until the light is gone. We will spend the night at the historic Goulding’s Lodge and Trading Post, in Goulding’s, UT.
Day 3 is an early morning shoot at Monument Valley. We will leave the Monument after lunch and head to the Grand Canyon for a late afternoon shoot, spending the night in Tusayan, AZ just outside the park.
Day 4 is a dawn to mid-morning shoot of the Grand Canyon, returning to Flagstaff mid-afternoon where the tour ends.
To photograph Horseshoe Bend you will need a wide angle lens 14mm to 16mm. For the rest of the tour bring lenses from 28mm to 400mm, macro, zoom lenses work well, flash and tripod.
