Bat and Nature Photography Workshop of the Southwest

This Bat Photography Tour begins at the Portal Lodge cafe in Portal, AZ at 3:00PM on day one and concludes after our last night shoot. Checkout is at 11:00 AM after our last shoot. This four-night bat shoot includes lodging*.

DAY 1 (Days 2, 3, & 4 are of Day 1): Arrive at the Portal Lodge cafe for dinner and introductions. Prior to dark we will drive across the border into NM where we will capture bats using mist-nets. Bat Biologists will provide educational information on bats and fly them through a flight box for us. As the bats exit we will photograph them using the “PhotoTrap” trigger system.  We will continue to shoot until 12:00 AM or until we drop (which ever comes first), returning to the Portal Lodge for the night.

The daylight hours are at your leisure for Bird Photography including Elegant Trogons and a variety of Hummingbirds.

Equipment needed: Camera with bulb, Lens between 70mm – 200mm, Tripod, Cable release, Head lamp or small flashlight, Rain gear.
