Birding in Africa is a wonderful experience and though I’m not a birder I do enjoy taking photographs of them. During my stay in Tanzania this year I saw 151 species and subspecies. My guide Nickson was able to locate and name them for me. As I indicated, I’m not a birder and would be unable to identify these species without his help. Nickson is one of the better guides working for Maasai Wanderings. He has the ability to identify all species of mammals and most species of birds; in fact he is a noted birding guide.
Here’s a list of the species we observed and the number indicates how many subspecies. However, I was able to only able to photograph about 106 species and subspecies. Some of the photographs can be seen here.
I’ll be leading a Birding Safari to Tanzania in March, 2016.
